UVa Science Fiction and Fantasy Club
Since I am reminded by a random posting that there are people thare interested in gaming that don't come to meetings *gasp*, I'm putting out a call. I have a lot of interesting ideas for a highly political vampire game (not World of Darkness). You'd have to bear with me as a long-time gamer, first-time GM. Anyway, any interest post here.
The Callous, Jaded Second Year
I'm a fourth-year and a Brownie - and I've been a 'lurker' on this board for a while (what a way to introduce myself!). In short, I write to you today because there's a big group of us in Brown who've been playing a handful of back-to-back 3rd ed. DnD games in Brown this year, and it occurred to me today that it might be a whole lot of fun to have a DnD (or GURPS or general RPG - or even something more tangential, like Diplomacy) Beach Week this year. I haven't met many of you, but you seem like fun folks and the kind who might be interested (which I'd know better if I'd ever had the nerve to come to one of your meetings), but I digress... long story short, whether it would be one big game or a handful of one-shots, it would be *mad* fun, would involve beachy weather and silliness, and could be something of a blast.
Alright, off I go in favor of thesis work.
... then you check livejournal much mroe often than you ever check your e-mail.
For all of us LJ addicts, I'll post it here.
Where: Newcomb Theater
What: A divine right to kill given to two sweet Irish lads, who use it liberally.
Why: Four words -- Willem Dafoe In Drag.
Who: YOU! YOU must be there! ALL OF YOU!!!
Joe and I are going to meet at the bus stop by the chapel at 10:15
to scrounge a pre-movie feed at the corner. 10:15
. You should meet us there if you're interested in feedage and are willing to brave the Corner at 10:15
on St. Patty's Day evening.
Did I mention 10:15 at the Chapel bus stop?
Yes, that :)
Boondock Saints! Squeee!
So, I hear there's a midnight showing of Fight Club in Newcomb, tonight. Fight Club being an awesome movie, and midnight being an awesome time to go see it, anyone interested?
Alternatively, there's also a 6 PM showing, if we wanted to feed ourselves dinner and then go over and see the thing.
Reply if interested in either possibility. I'm probably going to default to midnight, if just for the fact that I have a list of things I want to do before I go and see the movie which will likely take until more-than-six. But if people reply swiftly of desire to see it at a normal hour, I'd rather see it with people, 'cause people are awesome.
Psi Phi will be meeting at 6pm instead of 7pm
We're going to Ruffner to watch Transformers around 7 and Serenity at 8.40
Hope to see you there!
And, additionally, I just found out that I got a copy of the BBC HHGttG (on DVD) as a belated B-day gift: I think it requires watching some week, huh? :)
So there may very well be Hunter some time this weekend. Juli's kindly offered her house and foodstuffs for the occasion, I'll bring the books and try to formulate some manner of plotline that might be interesting to people.
Original plans were for dinnertime Saturday, but since it seems like the lot of you are going to go see Underworld, how's after the movie?
Failing that, Sunday, sometime?
And, so far, there's been interest from teckelvik
. Is anyone else interested in playing? No experience necessary, either with Hunter in particular or the World of Darkness in general.
EDITS: And for those of you who need a brief introduction to the game to decide whether you're interested: Hunter has been best described to me as a game of urban survivalism, where the world slowly devolves from the orderly society your characters know and live in to a ferocious jungle where you use any and all methods at your disposal to complete your final objective: TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!
Up to two people who want to go with me to a quick dinner somewhere at Barracks and then to the 7:10 showing of RENT should show up at 6:00 (15 minutes from now) at the bus stop near the corner of Stadium and Alderman.
I'll wait until 6:10, and then go.
Putting off finals is fun!
Love and such,
Say, anyone up for going to see a 7 PM or 10 PM RENT tonight? I've got one other tenative yes, so two/three more spaces in the car, depending on whether you want to squish in the backseat or not.
YEA!!! After several phone calls (and being put on hold a few times) and messing with this and that, psi phi now has online banking! Some of you might not care, but Katherine, me and all the future Quartermasters will greatly appreciate this service.
