UVa Science Fiction and Fantasy Club

I seem to be picking up not only my dreams, but those of my dogs and my husband and my nieighbors the last couple of nights. They make now sense and include people and places I have NEVER been to or seen before. I find it very diconcerting and confusing. I do sometimes pick up dreams of friends and families, but never so many at one for so long and in the same dream. I am pretty sure I have never chased small animals or snakes around before, but the colors are flat and the movemenet/motion exagerated. It is all very strange.

I have never had to worry about breaking the cycle before because it was always such a random event. I also don't like it because even though I don't know who the dreams belong to, I feel like a peeping tom in a way.

Any advice?

Blood and Chocolate (from the producers of Underworld) looks horribly amazing so Psi Phi must make an outing to see it. It comes out on the 26th.

I know I wasn't particularly interested on first apprehending that there would be an opportunity to go and see Neil Gaiman on Friday evening. Nonetheless, I think I may, depending on how I feel tomorrow, brave the trip. Is anyone else still interested in going? I know Joe lives up in that area, but I've got an aunt in Vienna (my plan would be to park in Vienna and take the metro up to DC) who could potentially put a few people up on couches/spare beds of an evening if we didn't feel like driving back on Friday night.

When do people want to go, and to what?

Today was the Student Activities Fair, when several brave Psi Phi members cook stand in the sun for five hours to share the joys of geekdom with the incoming first-years and other students. While we were there, abhyastamita and I came up with the following lists of things to remember for next year's activities fair. I'm posting them here so that they're somewhere public where we can find them a year from now. ;-)

All in all, I think it was a successful affair. We didn't try to hard-sell anybody, instead letting those who were really interested come to us. As a result, we didn't get nearly as many names for the mailing list as in past years, but we're more optimistic about people who signed up for the list earnestly being interested in it. This is a Good Thing^TM.

Is it just me, or did we (Psi Phi) not have a Facebook group? I couldn't find one, and so I went and created one called "Psi Phi Club". If I've friended you on Facebook and know that you're interested in the club, you got an invitation. If you didn't get an invitation but want to join the group, then by all means do so!

Hello, world! Just poking the Psi Phi LiveJournal community to see if it moves.

Details will be forthcoming, but we should be having our first meeting on the evening of Tuesday, August 22 at 7pm in the Pav.

Also, check out the web site, as I just finished revising it. It's not exactly a work of art, but at least it's current, which still puts it way ahead of most club websites...

Since I am reminded by a random posting that there are people thare interested in gaming that don't come to meetings *gasp*, I'm putting out a call.
